Who is this mysterious Wilcox? A deserter, a loser, or a convict on the run? While this unknown man is wandering through the Canadian landscape covered in fallen leaves and morning mist the viewer can only guess who he might be following and who he is talking to. On his way to an imaginary home and freedom the wanderer meets many people but we have no clue what they discuss. Côté's film turns our attention to a perception of the rhythm of nature and to listening to its voice while human dialogues stay forever silent.
