One night, one club. Five women and five intertwining lives whose stories make up a colourful mosaic of contemporary society in the present-day land of David. Here, the seaside city of Haifa is one of the last places where Palestinians and Israelis, men and women, and people of different sexual orientation still live in peace. Renowned director Amos Gitai explores the status of women in Israel, asking the question of whether art can be that key substance to bring together divided parties.

Amos Gitai

Born in Haifa, Gitai‘s first experience of film was during the Yom Kippur War, when he recorded a rescue operation and the horrors of the situation around him. His first international success came with his documentary debut, House (1980). His films have been selected for competition for the Palme d'Or four times, and for the Golden Lion seven times. His new film also premiered in competition at last year's Venice Film Festival.
