Culinary Cinema - Febiofest

evenings of film and dining 2019

For the fifth time, lovers of both cinema and gastronomy could partake of special evenings of film and dining within Febiofest’s Culinary Cinema section. This year the festival is fusing top class Czech culinary arts with Tazzeka, a Moroccan-French movie about the love of cooking, Constructing Albert, a Spanish documentary focused on an idiosyncratic Catalan master chef, and La Grande Bouffe, a cult French-Italian picture starring Marcello Mastroianni.

From 22 to 24 March, screenings were followed by film menus prepared by the renowned chef and teacher of popular cooking courses Lukáš Čížek from the Fusion and Farma restaurants and Filip Sajler, who today runs Perfect Canteen & Catering. The culinary evenings will culminate with a joint menu from both chefs linked to the singular film La Grande Bouffe with Martin Staněk creative chef of Perfect Canteen & Catering.

The films were screened at the CineStar Anděl multiplex. The dinners will be served afterwards at the Delight restaurant at the hotel  Vienna House Andel’s Prague, which is directly beside the cinema.

MAIN PARTNER OF CULINARY CINEMA IS POTTEN & PANNEN – STANĚK GROUP AND ITS GOURMET ACADEMY.

The Big Feast - Febiofest

Saturday 23. 03. 2019, 17:00

La grande bouffe
The Big Feast

Directed: Marco Ferreri
France / Italy, 1973, 125 min

Marco Ferreri’s cult film tells the metaphorical story of four friends who aim to commit suicide in an utterly unorthodox manner, deciding to gorge themselves to death on fine dishes and delicacies. The decadent feast in an old house on the outskirts of Paris is a critique of the unbridled consumerism of modern society, in which vulgarity and poetry and controversy and intimacy alternate.
