"It's a story about a clash of values in which a child is taken away from a family because of its inappropriate name," explains director Wlodarczyk. The title of the miniseries is the unorthodox name of the child that piques the local social workers. The stories of other alternative-lifestyle families – especially at the turn of the millennium – were altered by the media. The miniseries asks a universal question: Where is the boundary between individual freedom and social norms? Can you actually live off the grid today?

Dan Wlodarczyk

Dan used to make a living shooting music videos. Today, he is a FAMU graduate in documentary film and an author of around 20 documentaries which are mostly devoted to subcultures and alternative lifestyles. At Prague IFF, he has already presented his feature debut called The Indian and the Nurse (2006). In the recent years, he has been working mostly on TV series. Jitřní záře was produced by the Voyo VOD platform.
