MFF Praha - Febiofest
THE 28TH PRAGUE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL – FEBIOFEST TAKES PLACE ON 17-24 SEPTEMBER 2021, OFFERING 8 DAYS FULL OF INTENSE EXPERIENCES WITH THE BEST OF CURRENT CINEMA. SOME OF THE FILMS WILL BE PERSONALLY PRESENTED BY THEIR CREATORS.
Stephen Daldry – an iconic director known for films like The Hours, Billy Elliot or The Reader, will present his new television film Together. Screenings will take place on Saturday 18 September at 14:00h and on Monday 20 September at 19:45 at the Cinema City Slovanský dům.
The prominent Norwegian cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen has his own programme section – Profile: Sturla Brandth Grøvlen. He is coming to Prague IFF – Febiofest 2021 to present his films Shirley (with Elisabeth Moss in the lead role), much-lauded Heartstone, Oscar-winning Another Round, which is well-known to Czech audiences, and his latest project Last and First Men.
Ruth Meehan – the director of The Bright Side, which has been selected for the Main Competition – is also on her way to Prague to meet with her audience, as is Lauri Randla, whose film Goodbye Soviet Union! is among the six contestants in the Comedy Competition.
As for the Docs section, one of the directors of Castro’s Spies Gary Lennon has also accepted Febiofest’s invitation.
Actors Jiří Lábus, Božidara Turzonovová and producer Mike Downey will receive the Kristián Award. Mike Downey will be the guest of our first Masterclass (18 September, Cinema City Slovanský dům). The second Masterclass will feature Iranian film director and women’s rights activist Mahnaz Mohammadi (21 September, Edison Filmhub), while the third will have cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen speaking about his work (21 September, Edison Filmhub).
