Jiří Lábus (1950, Prague) is one of the defining Czech actors of his generation. Having graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU), he accepted a permanent acting role in Studio Ypsilon, which he stays loyal to even today. During his professional career, he appeared in countless TV and film roles, always standing out no matter the size of the role. He played the father in Svěrák’s Dark Blue World, an estate agent in Autumn Spring, grumpy neighbour Kubát in Owners and many others. He is a recipient of two Czech Lion Awards for Best Supporting Actor, for Amerika (1994) and Clownwise (2013).

At the 28th Prague IFF – Febiofest, Jiří Lábus will be the recipient of the Kristián award. Film Section Profile: Jiří Lábus will show an artistically ambitious TV project directed by Lucie Bělěhradská from 1999 Chef Speciality as well as the Owners, written and directed by Jiří Havelka, which was awarded the Czech Lion and the Czech Film Critics’ Award .
