Jaakko, a blind man tightened to a wheelchair, lives every day exactly the same – his phone tells him it’s time to take his medicine, then he listens to his favourite films, calls his relatives, and above all calls Sirpa, a girl with whom he gets along the best. Then one day a certain event in their relationship makes Jaakko decide to set out on his own on a trip lasting many hours to finally physically meet Sirpa. Because of his health condition, however, he must rely on the help and willingness or unwillingness of the people he meets along his way.

Teemu Nikki

Movies by this progressive Finnish director have covered such topics as alcoholic zombies, a sensitive animal euthanizer, and the problem of intolerance. His audiovisually gripping dramedy The Blind Man Who Did Not Want to See Titanic caught attention right during its premiere last year in the Orizzonti section at the Venice festival, from which it brought home the Audience Award.
