Mort Rifkin is a hypochondriac and film critic who loves nothing more than talking about himself and old movies, as his wife and Hollywood actress Sue, whom Mort is accompanying to the San Sebastián film festival, can attest. While Sue is becoming close with a vain French director, Mort starts flirting with a local doctor. Twelve years after Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Woody Allen returned to sunny Spain to make a caustic comedy about selfish intellectuals, evaporated relationships and life through art.
