French cinema's enfant terrible returns after a thirteen-year-long break with a provocative spectacle suffused with admiration for Paris, film, and also for Kylie Minogue's singing. Denis Lavant in the role of the mysterious Mr Oscar adopts the most diverse identities throughout one day in an unsettling show captured by invisible cameras. “Why do you keep doing it?” Oscar's boss, played by Michel Piccoli, asks him. “For the beauty of the gesture itself,” answers Lavant's chameleonic protagonist.
