Eight-year-old chess enthusiast Fahim and his father leave their native Bangladesh for a possible new home in Paris. But their asylum in France is not granted, so they stumble in illegality and homelessness. By a lucky coincidence, Fahim is introduced to one of the best French chess coaches (Gérard Depardieu), who sees his talent. Chess victories and losses reflect Fahim's fight for a normal life. The film won the Junior Jury Prize at the Festival of French Film in Namur, Belgium.
