29th IFF Prague - Febiofest: Day Five

The day five program of this year’s IFF Prague - Febiofest featured two gala screenings. First, the festival red carpet was rolled out for the creators of the new Czech film Somewhere Over the Chemtrails, which premiered at the Berlinale, led by director Adam Koloman Rybanský, accompanied by actors Anna Polívková and Vladimír Škultéty, among others. Next to get the red carpet treatment was the delegation from director Dan Wlodarczyk's miniseries Morning Glow, inspired by real events. Actors including Petra Bučková, Jan Plouhar, Veronika Žilková, Pavel Zedníček and the Minister of Culture, Martin Baxa, attended the screening.

Edison Filmhub screened another film by Dutch filmmaker Alex van Warmerdam, Schneider vs. Bax, followed by a debate featuring Ryan Keating and Lukáš Bejček.

Screenings attended by some of the creatives involved and followed by audience discussions also took place in various projection rooms throughout Cinema City Slovanský dům. Director Olmo Omerzu, also one of this year's jurors, presented his Bird Atlas as part of the Special Screening: Jury section. Hannes Þór HAlldórsson, a goalkeeper for the Icelandic football team, presented his fea-ture-length debut Cop Secret, which premiered in competition at the prestigious Locarno Festival. Another candidate for victory in the Comedy Competition, the Ukrainian film I Work at the Cemetery, was presented by its producer, Maksim Leshchanka. A third competitive film (this time direct from the Main Competition), Vera Dreams of the Sea, was accompanied by its debut director from Kosovo, Kaltrina Krasniqi.

Kampus Hyberska, a centre of culture, innovation, science and education, was the location for Industry Day 2022. The programme included three seminars: Planet – In Front of and Behind the Camera, Works In Progress – Focus on UKRAINE, and the presentation of eight FAMU students or recent graduates in SCRIPTWRITERS MEET THE INDUSTRY… or Are you looking for a script-writer? Come and meet rising talents.

In cooperation with the Czech branch of Amnesty International, the festival will award the Amnesty International Febiofest Award for the eighth time this year. Films selected across all sections concerning the topics of freedom, human rights, freedom of expression and the fight for a dignified life will compete for this valuable trophy. This year's ambassador for the Amnesty International section is the prominent journalist, reporter and moderator Nora Fridrichová. The winner will be chosen at today's meeting by the jury of the Amnesty International Febiofest Award.
