29TH PRAGUE IFF – FEBIOFEST: DAY TWO

THE FESTIVAL PROGRAMME IS IN FULL SWING, INCLUDING A LARGE NUMBER OF FILMMAKERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

Polish director Aleksandra Terpińska presented her debut Other People at Cinema City Slovanský dům. And so did her compatriot Aga Woszczyńská whose film Silent Land was chosen for the main competition. Producers Thembisa Cochrane and Georgina Paget presented their feminist drama based on a real story The Colour Room. Swedish director, screenwriter, and a member of this year’s jury Isabella Eklöf joined the audience in watching her film Holiday. Belgian-Swiss actress, singer, playwright, and director Stéphanie Blanchoud presented her drama about broken family relationships The Line, in which she also played the main role and co-authored the script. All ladies talked to the audience after the projection of their films.

The second festival day was graced by the premiere of the Czech Television miniseries Behind the Curtain, accompanied on its way to the audience by a delegation of filmmakers and actors, led by director Jan Hřebejk. Producers Gabriela Daniels and Kaveh Farnan brought an Iranian documentary to this year’s Febiofest: Woodgirls – a duet for a dream about two courageous women who, in spite of all obstacles, set out on a journey to fulfil their dream of having their own carpentry workshop. The stylish cinema the Edison Filmhub hosts the section Profile: Alex van Warmerdam. The first film screened was a 2015 film Schneider vs. Bax. Alex van Warmerdam, one of the most original and internationally successful filmmakers from the Netherlands, who is turning seventy this year, shared his professional experience with the audience and answered their questions after the screening.
