ITALIAN DIRECTOR MICHELA ANDREOZZI BROUGHT HER THIRD FEATURE “PARENTS VS INFLUENCERS” TO THE PRAGUE IFF – FEBIOFEST 2021 COMEDY COMPETITION. THE FILM FOLLOWS A FATHER TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH HIS TEENAGE DAUGHTER.

Like in my previous films, I wanted to focus on the family, but not on women: this time, I wanted to get to know the father. Parents always have an issue with the fact that their children are changing and they can’t do anything about it,” the director of Parents vs Influencers explained. Nowadays, social networks are a big part of this change, which can be quite hard especially for the older generation. “Gen Z-ers know how to navigate the on-line world, they know social media can be both dangerous and a great tool. This generation is very good at using social media to fight prejudice, injustice and bullying. Nonetheless, I still think that parents should keep an eye on their children,Michela Andreozzi said.

She cast the famous writer and radio DJ Fabio Volo in the role of the male protagonist. “He’s always surrounded by young people, he’s still young at heart and has a lot of followers himself,” the director explained why Volo seemed right for a character of a father trying to become an influencer. Ginevra Francesconi, who plays the daughter, was an easy decision, too – the director had loved her acting in an earlier thriller. “The harder part was casting the influencer. The character is based on the second-most followed girl in Italy, Giulia De Lellis, so the producers suggested that I offer the role to her. And she wanted to be in the film so much that she learned all the lines straight away. That was great,” Andreozzi said.
