Unflinching Generation – programme for teenagers

3. 3. 2020, 07:00
MFF Praha – Febiofest

This section focused on the emerging generation is united under a single theme this year: parents. Their choices change lives and it is crucial to look after them, understand them and also stand with them. That’s why this year the section includes, for instance, the documentary Scheme Birds, which maps the lives of young people in a social deprived milieu in Scotland. Having been brought up by her boxing coach grandfather, Gemma never backs down from a fight. She now stands before a more important decision – to stop taking blows from life and move out of the nest. This raw account of a world with little way out won the best documentary prize at Tribeca Film Festival.

Films from Generation

In the fiction film A Colony Mylia is trying to find her way in the new environment of secondary school, Disco, an unorthodox story about adolescence, forms of spirituality and self-acceptance, stars Josefine Frida, who is familiar to Czech audiences from the hit series SKAM. The Italian film The Lamb is receiving its world premiere at Febiofest. The Mexican picture Los Lobos delivers a children’s perspective on the immigrant reality. Crammed with teenage dramas, Jeune Juliette is a Canadian film about an overweight student who despite a series of trials manages to maintain her own individuality.

Generace – programme for children

Also focused on families, the Generation section includes animated programmes for kids. The youngest will enjoy the animated series Hungry Bear Tales. The adventure series Kosmix will whisk curious children off to explore the universe. And The Websters, dubbed especially into Czech, will entertain the entire family.
