Febiofest 2020

Febiofest has now reached Děčín, where it is showing the winning films in both of its competitions this year, the Slovak-Czech-Romanian-Irish drama Servants and the Swedish comedy Call Mom!

Servants, about two young seminarians who come under pressure from the secret police in 1980, triumphed in the Main Competition, which was this year judged by an expert jury for the first time. The zany Call Mom!, demonstrating that maturity need not be linked to age, was awarded victory in the brand new Comedy Competition by a viewers’ jury headed by actress Dana Morávková.

Also on the programme at the Děčín edition of Febiofest, which was ceremonially launched by the festival’s director, Kamil Spáčil and the head of the town’s Sněžník cinema, Martin Pošta, is the documentary Hostile Planet: Oceans; it examines in great detail all the possible ways animals manage to survive in the most inhospitable parts of the planet.
