Sossai was born near the Italian Dolomites, which also inspired the setting for his first feature film Other Cannibals. He studied modern languages and literature in Rome and directing at the German Film and Television Academy in Berlin, and he has also gathered filmmaking experience as a crew member for blockbusters like Mission: Impossible 7 (planned for 2023). Other Cannibals received the prize for best debut at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
