Stephen Daldry gained wide-spread recognition among audiences and film critics already with his first feature Billy Elliot (2000), which won him many prestigious awards and three Academy Awards nominations. Two years later, he excelled again with The Hours, where he successfully navigated three different worlds and scored eight Academy Awards nominations – and Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf. Kate Winslet won an Oscar in the same category for another film by Daldry, the 2008 drama The Reader. Stephen Daldry also directed and produced parts of The Crown.

On Saturday 18 September at 14:00 h, the legendary director Stephen Daldry will personally introduce a special screening of his new television film Together at the Slovanský dům cinema in the heart of Prague. During his brief visit to Prague, Stephen Daldry will also present the Kristián Award to producer Mike Downey, who produced, among many other films, the Czech-Polish drama Charlatan (directed by Agnieszka Holland).
