The multi-talented artist celebrates his 70th birthday this year, as one of the most original and internationally successful filmmakers in the Netherlands. He has been making films since 1986, always produced by his younger brother Marc. His distinctive work is characterized by a sense of the absurd, black humour, and an interest in the darkness that settles in the soul of the common man.
