A normal family party in the 1990s. While the kids fight over the best Rafael ninja turtle costume, the adults struggle with sexual frustration, butter shortages and a surplus of cheap drugs and imported alcohol. As the evening progresses, passions, trousers and endless cigarettes catch fire. Hostess Marijana has the feeling that not even the break-up of Yugoslavia can compare to this meeting of theatre lesbians, a nazi cousin and a deaf grandmother.

Milica Tomović

A graduate of the University of the Arts in Belgrade, she completed her studies with a segment in the film omnibus October (2011). The short film Transition (2016) dealt with the topic of gender transition, a taboo in Serbia. In her internationally successfully feature debut, Celts, which premiered at the Berlinale, she addresses themes of identity, sexuality and freedom in a conservative society with humour and nostalgia.
