Ten-year-old Elli is quite an unusual girl at first glance. Because she is an android all her memories are connected to one person: a mysterious man whom she calls “dad”. She spends most of her time with him – until the man mysteriously disappears and leaves her at the mercy of fate. Shortly afterwards, the girl gets a new family and new memories. Will she be able to stay true to herself, or will the new owners bring a new Elli to life? What is her identity actually based on, and can she preserve it?

Sandra Wollner

The native of Austria and a graduate of documentary film at Film Academy Baden-Würrtemberg made her mark with her directorial debut The Impossible Picture (2016), which won the German Film Critics’ Award. Her second feature film successfully premiered in the new Berlin competition section Encounters where it was awarded the Special Jury Prize.
