The Third Murder

Japanese director Hirokazu Kore'eda's live-action films are usually influenced by documentary techniques. His latest picture, The Third Murder, follows a different path, turning to the aesthetics of courtroom dramas and noir films. Misumi is a former felon charged with burglary and murder. During the trial, evidence about his possible innocence surfaces. Why doesn't Misumi plead not guilty even though he faces capital punishment?
