Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve) is a living star of the French cinema who has always put work above everything else. The publication of her memoir expedites the visit of her daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) with her husband Hank (Ethan Hawke) and their little daughter. The reunion of the mother-actress and daughter-screenwriter soon turns into a confrontation about the past, truth, and lie. The first English-speaking film by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda premiered at Venice IFF.
