After his release from prison, Peter wants to leave Hungary, and while waiting for his passport to be processed, he returns home for a couple of days. He is surprised by the fact that his sister has adopted the newborn baby of a woman called Maya, whom Peter immediately falls in love with. But he soon finds himself in a situation where he must decide which of the women to put first. Kornél Mundruczó's first feature represents a merciless portrayal of cruelty and despair.
