Febiofest Junior
This year's Junior mini-section for our younger viewers consists of eight pictures. We always try to follow the rule that children's films should be entertaining and educational not only for the young audience, but should be equally enjoyable for adults as well. The program includes adventures from the animated world of fairy-tales as well as films focusing on real child protagonists who struggle with real life problems. Two films which combine animation with live actors add to the variety of the program. The viewers may choose between the genres of fantasy, drama, sci-fi, and of course fun and and a lot of adventures. We’ll be screening world-wide blockbusters that will be screened in Czech cinemas, as well as independent films which can be seen only at Febiofest.
Quite unusually, the audience can enjoy feature films from the Netherlands that try to capture the darker side of children's lives. Regret! is a drama focusing on the serious social issue of bullying and the impact of abuse on the people around. On a lighter note, Rhubarb is centred around kids who desire a complete family, and their ability to use their imagination to fulfil that dream. Sci-fi T.I.M. develops the story of loneliness in a technologically advanced world, as well as courage, and an unusual friendship between a boy and a robot. In the section of animated films, the viewer will be entertained by the adventures of a bizarre protagonist, SpongeBob Squarepants and his friends in Sponge Out of Water. A journey to an unknown and exciting world also awaits Yellowbird, but he, unlike the sponge, must first find some buddies. We can also look forward to the return of our favourite, Tinker Bell, this time in Legend of the NeverBeast. Visually and artistically the most interesting film of this year's Febiofest Junior, Song of the Sea, tells the old Celtic myth of a seal fairy, Saoirse. And last but not least, the iconic Shaun the Sheep, by the British animation studio, Aardman finally managed to get to the silver screen in what is sure to be a hit.
