Movie synopsis: Fifty-year-old businessman, Jerry Kingsley (Frederic March), lives a frugal life after his wife's death, but it changes when he develops a crush on one of his employees, the comely and blond Betty (Kim Novak). Yet their relationship has to overcome not only the age gap and the fact that Jerry is Betty's boss, but also the negative attitude of Jerry's family. The humorous romantic drama comprehensively touches the issue of relationships across generations and certainly does not settle on a portrayal of idyllic love that conquers all and easily surpasses all ages. The film captivates with the realistic depiction of the deep emotional needs of completely ordinary people trying to provide at least a little spark to their ordinary, everyday lives.
