Movie synopsis: Hal Carter used to be a football star, but now he's a vagrant looking for work. Instead of a job, he comes across reckless Madge, a girl from a good family. Her mother would certainly want her to get together with wealthy Alan, but during the picnic, which is in the very centre of the film, it becomes obvious that even a mother cannot direct the course of true love. The chemistry between William Holden and Kim Novak is one of the film's great positives, but this old-fashioned picture will capture your attention especially with its strange depiction of the circumstances in Kansas of the 1950s, when girls definitely weren't in a position appealing to the feminists of today. See for yourself the power of romantic illusion of that time.
