Beat Generation On Screen

This year’s Febiofest features a small subsection of films dedicated to writers Allen Ginsberg , William S. Burroughs , Lawrence Ferlinghetti and especially Jack Kerouack.

Traveling aimlessly , drugs, and the bohemian lifestyle . Famous for 50 years of blissful generation of young writers, who have seen this lifestyle on paper. At this year's Febiofest you’ll see movies on the life stories of the most famous of the Beat Generation.

Kill Your Darlings

In this film about a murder in 1944, which draws together the great writers of the Beat Generation. Daniel Radcliffe, who has already come a long way since Harry Potter, stars as poet Allen Ginsberg. The film describes in detail his relationship with Lucien Carr (the talented Dane DeHaan), Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston) and William Burroughs (Ben Foster). The great cast includes Michael C. Hall Included in this great cast is Michael C. Hall, from the TV series Dexter, in the role of David Kammerer.

Big Sur

The film tells the story of Jack Kerouac three stays (under the pseudonym Jack Duluoz) in a cabin in the forests of Big Sur, owned by another poet of the Beat Generation, Lawrence Ferlinghetti . In his later life, Kerouac went on a journey from New York to California on a quest for redemption. The years of ravaging his body with alcohol and drugs make difficult however, and he succumbs to hallucinations; no longer able to distinguish between what is reality and what his own ideas. Jean-Marc Barr portrays Kerouac in the film.

On the Road

The novel, On the Road, is one of the probably one of the most famous works of Jack Kerouac . Shaken by the death of his father and discouraged by his stalled career, writer Sal Paradise goes on a road trip hoping for inspiration. While traveling, he is befriended by charismatic and fearless Dean Moriarty and Moriarty's free-spirited and seductive young wife, Marylou. Traveling across the American southwest together, they strive to break from conformity and and search the unknown, and their decisions change the very course of their lives.
