Movie synopsis: The drama, I Am Slave, is inspired by real events from the life of Mende Nazer, a fighter for human rights who was kidnapped from her tribe of Nuba in Sudan as a child and then sold to slavery. The director Gabriel Range captures the life of a twelve-year-old girl growing up into a young woman who has lost all her rights and whose only hope is to escape her current “owners” in a suburb of a British metropolis. The film tells the story of one strong woman's suffering, but it also draws attention to the practices of modern slavery in civilized countries, an issue which affects the lives of thousands.
