Music-festAttention!! Change in programm: 28.03.2007 in 20,00 will play BASTA FIDEL. The Traband has cancelled!! Febiofest Music Festival, which accompanies the 14th year of the International Festival of Film, TV, and Video - Febiofest, will reinforce the performing artists from abroad this year, introducing a large number of new names. This year’s programme includes more than 50 music groups who will make their appearance on two stages directly in the centre of the festival in Village Cinemas Anděl in Prague. As in the preceding years, the admission is free! Febiofest Music Festival follows new music trends, and its dramaturgy, abounding with world music and exotic rhythms, traces and extends the individual sections of the film festival, structured mainly in accordance with regional cinema productions. Jiří Březina, coordinator of the Febiofest Music Festival, says: “The music festival will take place from Friday, 23rd March to Friday, 30th March on two stages, in the underground garages (level -3) of the multiplex Village Cinemas Anděl and on the ground floor of the pizzeria Mediterrane. The major feature of this year is the flood of guests from abroad: Rona Hartner is considered the main star of the festival this year.” The audience could have noticed this Romanian female singer and actress with German roots for example in the films of Tony Gatlif or Michael Haneke. Jiří Březina further comments: “During her performance, she will be accompanied by Romanian and Moldavian violinists, accordionists, and guitar players. I think her performance may really be a boisterous experience.” The Jamaican-American band Mr. Crow & Mr. Reed will introduce their energetic mix of acoustic blues, country, rock, and reggae. Rageous Gratoon (of France) and El Gafla (France / Algeria) blend North-African, Gypsy, as well as purely French styles and their songs are (in case of the band El Gafla) full of revolt, love, and melancholy. The foreign guests further include two bands from Hungary (Korai Öröm and Kampec Dolores) as well as the vibrant samba-playing Boom Brasil. The director of the festival Fero Fenič comments with much contentment: “In the earlier years, it was us who had to address the bands to have them perform at the Febiofest. Now it is the bands that contact us, even the foreign ones. We are pleased by this fact, and with regard to this year’s programme, we are certain the garages will be crowded, just as last year.”The Czech scene is represented by Traband, Trombenik, Gang ala basta, Soil, Swordfishtrombones, Nierika, and many others. A lot of Czech bands also mix different styles and are inspired by exotic music. This year’s Febiofest is scheduled to take place from 22nd to 30th March in Prague, and from 29th March to 15th April in the regional centres of the Czech Republic.
