Eight films from the programme of Prague IFF – Febiofest longlisted for the European Film Awards 2021

The films selected for this year’s Prague IFF – Febiofest are of demonstrably high quality: eight of them have been longlisted for the European Film Awards 2021. The second part of the nominations will be announced later in September. The nominated films from our programme are: The Whaler Boy (Main Competition), Fabian (Panorama – Icons), Forest – I See You Everywhere (Panorama – Icons), Nowhere Special (Panorama – Icons), Night of the Kings (Panorama – New Currents), Supernova (Queer Now), Ammonite (Queer Now) and The Father (closing film).

The European Film Awards are considered the European counterpart of the Oscars. The European Film Academy awards them yearly since 1988 in over ten categories, including European Film of the Year. The list of laureates of these prestigious awards includes many big names of world cinema: Krzysztof Kieślowski – A Short Film About Killing (1988), Lars von Trier – Breaking the Waves (1996), Pedro Almodóvar – All About My Mother (1999), Paolo Sorrentino – Youth (2015)…
