When many local children die in a school bus accident in a small town in British Columbia, the life seems to stop. The grieving community is unable to overcome the shock and the atmosphere is thick with mutual suspicions and doubts. The situation deteriorates even further upon the arrival of a lawyer who wants to persuade the bereft families to file a class-action lawsuit against the culprit. This drama about faith, courage and forgiveness earned Atom Egoyan many awards including the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes IFF.
The director and versatile filmmaker of Armenian origin grew up and studied in Canada. After graduating, he focused on theatre and made several short films. He is one of the most distinguished directors of today and author of many highly-acclaimed films. He has two Oscar nominations and won several awards at Cannes and other major festivals.
