The biographical drama sketches a portrait of the singer and founding member of Beach Boys, Brian Wilson. In the 1960s, he is on the top of his fame, but his paranoid psychosis starts to emerge as well. In the 1980s, he is a broken man, constantly under the watch of doctor Landy. When a young car sales girl appears in his life and sees Wilson as something more than a human wreck, it turns out that his bad condition may have other causes.
The American producer and director is the president of the River Road Entertainment company. He has produced for example Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, Sean Penn's Into the Wild, and many other distinctive films. His directing debut came with Old Explorers, and he took cinematography in his hands again after twenty-five years with Love & Mercy, which premiered at Toronto IFF.
