The story of Palestinian rapper Kareem and his girlfriend, singer Manar, starts unfolding against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Musical success is a chance for Kareem to escape the crime-filled ghetto that is his home. But it soon turns out that even in the cosmopolitan Tel Aviv, the atmosphere is less free-spirited than it might seem at first. Kareem will have to decide whether he prioritizes traditions and securities, or freedom and love.
The Israeli-American artist and political activist focuses on the relationship between art and theory in all his works. He launched his career as a successful painter and established himself also in literature and theatre. He has made many documentaries, music videos and features, usually with a strong political subtext. Junction 48 won one of awards at Tribeca festival in New York.
