Towards the end of the WWII, twelve-year-old Ofelia goes with her pregnant mother to the mountains where her stepfather suppresses the remains of a republican rebellion. Mythical creatures both from books and nature contact Ofelia and set her increasingly difficult tasks. This fantastical fairy-tale for adults has an original visual style based on Goya's paintings, and an elaborate script connecting reality with fantasy.
