In a not-so-distant future, humanity is plagued by an illness called STBO, which kills young people who have sex without love. Young Alex, played by Carax's favorite actor Denis Lavant, gets entangled in a risky plan. He must steal the vaccination against STBO, but he falls for his accomplice's mistress. This strange crime story is Carax's second feature film, freely moving from reality to fantasy to the rhythm of David Bowie's music.
