Febiofest films in cinemas
We are pleased to announce, that many of the films shown at Febiofest are going to be released in Czech cinemas, including the Grand Prix winner, Finnish film The Good Son.

The Echoes of Febiofest
After Prague, Febiofest continues in April with regional Echoes. Screenings will take place in Liberec, Hradec Králové, Pardubice, České Budějovice, Brno and Ostrava.
GRAND PRIX 2012 goes to The Good Son
The winner of the festival's Grand Prix is The Good Son (Hyvä poika) by the Finnish director, Zaida Bergroth. The thrilling family drama has won against 11 other films competing in the New Europe Competition.

Festival Diary: March 30
The 19th Febiofest comes to its end tonight. Agnieszka Holland will receive the Kristian Award for her Contribution to World Cinema, and one of the competing films will win the Grand Prix.

It's here! The 19th annual Febiofest gets underway tonight. The film lover's marathon begins with 4 Opening Night Screenings at Cinestar Andel, followed by the gala party at Rudolfinum!
Febiofest will introduce 182 films!
IFF Prague – Febiofest will introduce 182 films from 55 countries divided into 20 sections. You can see them at 496 scheduled screenings.

Febiofest Accompanying Program
While Febiofest is mainly a film festival, the offer of music and arts is also rich.

Agnieszka Holland will receive the Kristián Award
Agnieszka Holland will receive the Kristián Award for her Contribution to World Cinema at this year's Febiofest Closing Night ceremonies.

More guests: Zvjagincev, Idziak, Östlund a Helmer
Andrei Zvjagincev, Slawomir Idziak, Veit Helmer, Ruben Östlund and Denis Côté will be on hand to present their films in person at Febiofest!

The Competition Films and the Filmmakers
The New Europe Competition section will have welcome a rich set of guests. 8 of the 12 films in competition will be personally presented by their directors, including Olmo Omerzu, Leszek Dawid and Roland Edzard.

Program changes
There is a change in the festival's program. Please take a look at the overview.

Febiofest will introduce Asian cinema
In the Asian Panorama section, Febiofest will introduce movies from China, Sri Lanka and Iran.

American Sections: Movies from Latin America and USA
Two sections will be dedicated to movies from the Americas: Latin American Panorama and Made In the USA.

Guests: Kronerová, Dresen, Pawlikowski
The Cinema of Personalities will introduce the Slovak actress Zuzana Kronerová, the German film-maker Andreas Dresen and the director born in Poland Pawel Pawlikowski.

The Honorary Chairman of the Jury: Miroslav Ondříček
The work of the Jury, which consists of 33 audience members who applied on the Festival's homepage, will be presided over by Miroslav Ondříček as the Honorary Chairman.

An event for connoisseurs: The restored Battle of Algiers
An event for film connoisseurs will be the Czech premiere of the restored version of the legendary film, Battle of Algiers. The movie was awarded with Golden Lion at IFF in Venice in 1966.

New program section: The World in 3D
3D films are created all over the world and it is worth noting how the filmmakers succeeded in Asia, Russia, or even our Polish neighbors.

National retrospective: Turkey today
This year the national retrospective features Turkish cinema. The program offers, among others, Nuri Bilge Ceylan´s Once upon a Time in Anatolia, the movie was awarded at the Cannes festival.

World cinema news in the program
The program includes several pictures with Best Foreign Language Oscar nominations, and several of those that have been shortlisted. Febiofest also brings almost thirty films from the Cannes festival.

Festival guests: Sandrine Bonnaire and Lech Majewski
This year Febiofest introduces several distinguished guests, among others the French actress and director Sandrine Bonnaire and the American-Polish artist Lech Majewski.

New Europe: The Czech film, A Night Too Young, will compete
After its world premiere at this year's Berlinale, Febiofest will introduce the Czech Republic's new cinematic hope – A Night Too Young. The movie is made by the twenty-seven-year-old Slovenian director living in Prague, Olmo Omerzu.

Regional Echoes
The main part of this year's festival in Prague at Cinestar Anděl (March 22nd -30th) will again be followed by a series of regional Echoes in six cities.

Homage to Nanni Moretti
This year one part of the popular Cinema of Personalities Section will pay homage to the Italian filmmaker, Nanni Moretti.
THE CHRISTENING, THE WINNER OF FEBIOFEST, IS COMING TO THE CINEMAS
The winner of the Febiofest 2011 Grand Prix, The Christening, is coming to Czech cinemas! The director, Marcin Wrona, was a guest at Febiofest last year, and he received the award from the hands of Dagmar Havlová.

19th edition is coming soon
19th IFF Prague – Febiofest 2012 will take place from March 22nd to the 30th 2012. The central venue will once again be the multiplex Cinestar Anděl in Prague 5, with its 12 screens.

The Grand Prix 2011: The Christening
The Grand Prix of the IFF Prague – Febiofest 2011 went to the Polish film by Marcin Wrona, The Christening (Chrzest). The award was decided by the 33member jury of the festival and presented by Dagmar Havlová.
