New Europe
The traditional competition section of first and second films of European filmmakers presents pictures brimming with ambitious, daring ideas and forms. Films which provoke, reflect, and bring auteur views of today's Europe, the one we live in. Some look to the past for their contemplations and motives, others wander into pure fantasy, some focus on being different while others concentrate on inhumanity or fragility. But there's no doubt that each of the selected filmmakers – although they're just at the beginning of their careers – offers a distinctive and valuable movie. Some have already been discovered and awarded by other festivals while others are still waiting for their first accolades.
