The section dedicated to Asian cinema attempts to achieve the almost impossible – to introduce new films to audiences across genres and countries of the largest and most populous continent in just a week. That's why our selection should be considered rather as a quick peek than a comprehensive overview of whats happening in Asian cinema today. Once again, the selection includes distinctive films that have been winners at European festivals, this year from Japan and South Korea which is represented by two of its most renowned, yet so different, filmmakers – Kim Ki-duk and Hong Sang-soo. You can also see action thrillers from Hong Kong and India and dramas focusing on traditions, history, as well as current social issues.
