The Turkish producer and director Emre Yeksan is a representative of new Turkish cinema. He graduated in film studies from the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and at Paris’s Sorbonne. Following his studies he worked as a producer in Paris. In 2008 he returned to Istanbul and, alongside his production work, shot the short Aziz and was involved in the short documentary Welcome Lenin! He spent almost a year preparing his feature debut, the dystopian drama The Gulf, which premiered at the International Critics’ Week in Venice in 2017.
