ANGELIN PRELJOCAJ

Angelin Preljocaj

Frenchman Angelin Preljocaj studied classical ballet, from which he later switched to modern dance. In 1984, he set up his own dance company Ballet Preljocaj, whose repertoire has been performed at the world’s greatest venues, including Milan’s La Scala, New York City Ballet and Paris Opera. The world of dance and ballet inspired him to shoot several short films and videos. He also cooperated with Olivier Assayas on the authorial film Eldorado. In autumn 2016, he made his feature debut with Polina, which is based on Bastien Vivès’s graphic novel of the same title and has strong autobiographical elements.

Eduardo Williams is one of South America’s most promising directors. He is a graduate of Argentina’s Universidad del Cine v Buenos. Even when making student and short films, such as That I’m Falling? and Could See a Puma, he used travel as a powerful source of inspiration. The resulting works are infused with a melancholy mood suggesting that the journey may well be the destination. In his films, Williams combines reality with fiction and fantasy and reality and his protagonists frequently encounter aimless dreamers who alter their trajectories. His feature debut The Human Surge has a similar atmosphere.
