Movie synopsis: The “documentary musical” focuses on events in the community of London Road in Ipswich after bodies of murdered women were found there in 2006. The film is based on a tremendously successful National Theatre production, which created a genre-crossing film tableau out of the recorded statements of the community members and the hysterical media response. In an inventive and provocatively original way, it maps out the residents' reactions to the appalling series of murders, confrontations with the media and police, and the killer's conviction. The musical numbers shot in the streets of Ipswich, the tragedy's settings, confront the dark absurdity of singing a reconstruction with an investigative approach.
