Movie synopsis: Eva Jariabkova lives in a loveless marriage with Simon, a farmer in a village hemmed-in by mountains. She often recollects charismatic Drak, the only man she has ever loved and who was chased away by the locals' hatred and superstitions. One day, Drak returns to the village, and his return brings old grievances and long-suppressed passions back to life. The psychological love drama is based on a Naturalist novel by Dobroslav Chrobak, and is one of the most remarkable films of Slovak cinema. Eduard Grecner's star-cast ballad also boasts an innovative use of music, which was composed by Ilja Zelenka.
