Movie synopsis: Film veteran John Boorman, in his first film since 2006, has made a sequel to his famous Hope and Glory, analysing the sense of the war efforts of the crumbling British Empire in the Korean conflict of the 1950s. The freedom of youth, the romantic desire for adventure, and bitter satire meet in his portrayal of the absurdity of military structures and fundamental twists in friendships and loves of barely adult boys. In the semi-autobiographical picture, the director guides us through the events through the narration of nineteen-year-old Bill, whose growing up in uniform is disrupted when he must decide about right and wrong on his own, even when it collides with service to Queen and country – and he must face the consequences.
