Movie synopsis: The epic and unsettling road movie about a journey from Africa to Europe represents a feature debut by the documentarian, Boris Lojkine. It reveals conditions that might seem like a different world to developed Europe. Leonard from Cameroon meets a Nigerian woman named Hope at the beginning of a pilgrimage to a better life, and he is the only one from the group of Cameroonian fugitives to take care of Hope as she is doubly disadvantaged – as woman as well as a member of a different nationality. Lojkine documents this intra-African animosity through national ghettos existing in North Africa. The director dispassionately observes the desperate situation that often demand resignation to moral values, and the amazing performances of non-actors emphasise the stench of the hopeless reality.
