Movie synopsis: A fairy-tale about a young female miner, depicting North Korea as a country where the working class fulfils their dreams. It reminds Czech viewers of Proud Princess, a fairy-tale tale made by Borivoj Zeman in 1952. The film was a box office hit in North Korea because it depicts a female protagonist who is able to achieve her dreams on her own. Miner Kim wants to become an acrobat and her arduous journey has a clear direction. Similarly, the European producers were the first ones to penetrate the closed North Korean industry and created, in cooperation with a local film crew, a fairy-tale story full of colours and smiles. However, the film which provided repose and entertainment for the North Korean audiences, can be perceived in a very different way by European viewers.
