Movie synopsis: A picturesque lakeside cruising spot for gay men. Franck likes to spend his summer afternoons here, having a swim and meeting other guys. He befriends loner Henri, but during their brief conversations, Franck never takes his eye off Michel, a stranger with a great body and alluring moustache. When one night, Franck witnesses Michel do something terrible, instead of reporting it to the police, he is drawn to him even more, with paralyzing fear and uncontainable passion. Franck must live out his desire, whatever the cost. They begin an intense affair that is as dangerous as it is exciting. Alan Guiraudie skillfully creates a stifling atmosphere of gripping suspense and justifiably won the Un Certain Regard at last year’s Cannes for his assured direction of this fascinating, sexually explicit thriller.
Awards and Nominations: Cannes IFF (2013) – Best Directior (Un Certain Reagard Section), Queer Palm
