Movie synopsis: An adult white woman returns to her birthplace in Cameroon, where a random encounter triggers early memories of her relationship to the local people. A revered French filmmaker, Claire Denis, returns to her own childhood spent in Africa through these memories, and captures local people, nature and the political situation of the colonial period with remarkable sensitivity and understanding. The director's debut successfully started her career, earning her the appreciation of both viewers and critics, and even a nomination for one of the most prestigious film awards, the Palme d'Or in Cannes.
