Movie synopsis: The first live-action feature film of animator and director Sylvain Chomet brings to mind the filmmaker's previous films (such as The Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist) with its captivating visual style. The tragicomedy follows thirty-three-year-old Attila, who has spent most of his life with his energetic aunties after his parents die. A neighbor, Madame Proust, comes into the life of the shy, quiet protagonist one day, and introduces him to the world of “herbal” teas with a just a bit of LSD for flavor. Tripping on the five-o'clock tea, Attila finds the key to his past represented by his lost mother, to his present dominated by his aunties, and even to his future, which might belong to Michelle the cellist. The visual side of Attila Marcel places the film side by side with directors like Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Jac Van Dormael and Michel Gondry. “We can find everything in our memory,” said Marcel Proust – you can find melancholy, gentle humor, musical numbers as well as beautifully sad nostalgia in Sylvain Chomet's latest film.
