:: General information on participation in

11thFEBIOFEST - FESTIVAL OF NATIONS,
an international review of film, television and video

1. Options for non-commercial presentation of the individual countries and ineteresting titles in the festival program:

  1. an overview of national cinematography:
at least 8 movies are presented (each movie is shown only once in Prague but it could be screened whithin the regional legs of the festival), these being either the best movies from the recent period or a representative sampling from the history of national cinematography (the total number of movies can be as high as 32).
The technical conditions: we give preference to the 35 mm format (in exceptional cases the format can be 16 mm). Films do not have to have Czech subtitles (or english) - translation into earphones or subtitles under the screen is provided (please supply a transcript of the dialogues and VHS casette with each movie).

  2. an overview of films of a selected national producer:
at least 8 films are presented, which should constitute a representative selection of the best movies of a well-known film maker's entire work.
Technical conditions as per point a).

  3. the Czech premiere of a new movie:
one or more titles are presented from the latest production of national cinematography (these can be from the last several years-so long as they have not thus far been presented at any event in the Czech Republic.
Technical conditions as per point a.)

  4. the Czech premier of a new succesfull european movie:
presentation of the recent films which were succesfull at the main festivals (Berlin, Cannes, Venezia) or films which are interesting for their modern form. We would like to screen mainly the films from the young directors.
Technical conditions as per point a.). Febiofest will pay screening fees and shipping costs for each title.

2. Organization:

  1. The shipping of the copies to and from Prague is paid for by the respective country however, Febiofest is prepared, to bear some or even all of the costs where necessary. We do not defray any other costs or fees. In case of interest we will facilitate the presentation of these films also outside of Prague (Brno, Ostrava) or in Slovakia.

  2. Febiofest presents each movie in Prague 1-2x. It arranges a press conference for each national cinematography and in the event that more that 16 movies are presented, it maytake part in the publication of a special brochure highlighting only this individual national cinematography (apart from the general program catalog), which will be available free of charge to all festival visitors.

  3. Based on the scope of the program, Febiofest will provide 1 or 2 persons with accommodations free of charge for the duration of the festival (approx. 3 nights). It pays for transportation to and from Prague only if there is a direct air link with CSA - Czech Airlines.

  4. Besides the screening in Prague, selected movies may also be presented in several other cities in Moravia (Brno, Ostrava, approx. 1 - 2 ), because Febiofest, after the conclusion of the Prague program, presents a selection of movies also in 2 of the biggest country's centers, as well as in Slovakia.

  5. The deadline for the program is November 30th of each year.
The date of the festival is the last week of January of each year in Prague.
A selection of movies from the Prague program is presented around the Czech Republic in the first week of February.
