Description:
Reconstruction is a masterly direction of a strange story of day and night, when the hero Alex, although in love with his girlfriend Monika, meets the fateful Aimee, and decides for her sake to risk everything he has built in his life. In the story of Alex, crushed by fate, and the mysterious Aimee - lonely in her marriage with the successful writer August who only understands the women in his novels - space, time, the atmosphere of a hotel, bar and the streets of Cologne, cigarette smoke, day light and the darkness of night, play the main role. Don´t try to impose a clear logical meaning on the story, the actor in the main role, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, advised the audience. One can agree with his recommendation. Reconstruction is a film poem in a dreamy, sometimes Kafkaesque tone, about the confusion and destructive euphoria of being in love. Maria Bonnevie plays the double role of Aimee and Monika. As Aimee she speaks Swedish to Alex, whilst he speaks Danish to her...

Director´s annotation: Christoffer Boe graduated in native Denmark from the Danish National Film School. As a sharply defined individualist/liberal he regularly contributes to the journal Libertas. Nevertheless, he acknowledges film universally as collective work. Reconstruction is his immeasurably successful feature film debut, and brought him many important awards.
